End of summer September 2020. Landscape pictures from around the towns Vorstenbosch and Lottum in Limburg in the south of The Netherlands.
Pictures taken during a boatride in September on the River “Maas” near Venlo in the south of the Netherlands.
After seven months of not being able to meet due to Corona, my mother and my sister and our partners spend a few days together in this old house which is actually a castle. It was nice to spend time together after not being able to meet because we had to be extra careful because […]
You can never miss out on a stroll along the river “De Waal” when in Nijmegen. There are always nice views to be seen over the water and the clouds that are floating by. You can go for a walk, or have a bite or a drink on de “Waalkade”.
An artificial island, Marker Wadden, recently opened for public in a lake, Markermeer, where once was the Zuiderzee. The Zuiderzee was cut off from the North Sea in the 1930’s by the Afsluitdijk. The salt water disappeared and the lake Markermeer emerged, in 2016 the artificial island “Marker Wadden” was created using sediments from the […]
Last of the Friesland series. View from a dyke over a field with horses grazing, even further away in the distance is the sea and the Wadden Islands. Empty rows in a harvested field. A field with grain in the summer, a tree in the distance, rather reminds me of the vast emptiness in a […]
Harvester in a field in Friesland the north of The Netherlands, view from a dyke in the distance there are some sheep grazing and anxiously waiting for the few passers by to come nearer. It was a windy day, the windmills in the field were spinning in rapid fashion.
Summer in Friesland in the North of The Netherlands. In the upper most part of where land was taken from the sea. Lone dykes protect us from the sea. A red roof can be seen behind the dyke, a red pole with nothing around. From the dyke you can see the Wadden islands in the […]
Last day of summer makes you reflect on the past summer. Of course during Covid times it was harder to go out on the street, but there were a lot of enjoyable days walking the streets of Amsterdam and seeing people enjoy summer, a man eating an ice cream, a woman squinting her eyes while enjoying the rays of sun on her face, a couple having that much needed talk outside while staring over the water.
Last year just before my big operation I got married and we took a boat from Amsterdam to Zaanse Schans with our family and friends. On our one year anniversary we revisited the place, just the two of us by car. Due to Covid-19 there were far less tourists this time at Zaanse Schans to […]
Various portraits of people passing me by on the streets of Amsterdam. A young man staring into the distance at Nieuwmarkt, a man on a bicycle smiling at his friend near Bijlmer Arena, an elderly woman in the Jordaan crossing the street with her rollator and oxygen tank, two tourists leaving a coffeeshop at Nieuwmarkt.
Every year in December Circus Zanzara put up it’s tent in Westerpark. Zanzara means “Mosquito” it is a small circus with a great show.
Amsterdam CS during rush hour. Like in life, people pass you by, some faces pop out and some faces blur in the background. More so when you suddenly get life threatening Ill and you don’t know how long you have left. Some people surface and stand right beside you, help you pull trough and give […]
This last week of October we had a few nice days. Before it seemed to rain all the time, but suddenly the sun came trough and we had three beautiful albeit cold days. On Tuesday Ineke whom I know since we were eight years old came all the way from Enkhuizen to pick me up […]
In my neighborhood is a shop where it says “Viswinkel” on the window. Meaning “Fish shop”. You can buy lighters, cutlery, bags, tajines everything you could think of but fish, it so seems, in this shop. Most of the days the shop is closed but on some days when the sun is out the shopkeeper […]
Skaters in the Amsterdam Staatsliedenbuurt near Westerpark at van Beuningenplein and at Marnixplantsoen. Pictures taken at the end of summer in the afternoon.
